About Web Design careers
Web designers have been revitalized as digital architects by the maturity of no-code and low-code platforms.
In 2026, web designers use tools like Webflow and Framer to ship production-grade sites without engineering bottlenecks. The focus has moved toward high-end typography, creative art direction, and performance-first layouts.
With the growth of the JAMstack and decentralized web, designers at companies like Shopify and Squarespace are increasingly responsible for the entire site experience from layout to deployment.
Positions include web designers, UX/UI web specialists, Webflow designers, and front-end design engineers. Opportunities span companies like Shopify, Vercel, Framer, and Canva, as well as agencies and e-commerce platforms. AI-powered websites for companies like OpenAI and Anthropic require modern web design skills.
Very common! Companies like Webflow, Framer, Vercel, and Supabase are remote-first. Browse remote web design positions or search by location. Many web design roles offer full remote flexibility since the work is inherently digital.
Strong candidates know Figma, responsive design principles, and HTML/CSS. Experience with Webflow, Framer, or JavaScript frameworks (React, Next.js) is often required by companies like Vercel, Linear, and Notion. Understanding of UX best practices and accessibility is essential. View top web design portfolios for examples.
