ICT Design Engineer, Data Center Design Engineering

The ICT Design Engineer will develop physical layer designs, including pathways, spaces, and cabling for global data centers. They will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of infrastructure specifications while managing construction risks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely delivery of scalable fiber‑optic and copper plant designs and specifications
• Review and approve ICT pathway, cabling and equipment submittals
• Identify and respond rapidly to risks and high‑priority issues
• Support new technology and design activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost and installation time
• Travel 10%+ to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS data centers
• Provide creative, out‑of‑the‑box solutions

Requirements

• Experience reading and editing construction documents such as design drawings, control diagrams and specifications
• Industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission‑critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, oil & gas)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
• Experience researching new designs, technologies and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities
• Experience developing design documentation (plans, specifications) for construction and permitting
• Knowledge of fiber‑optic components, cabling and interconnect products, technologies and standards
• Preferred: Experience carrying new design concepts through development to deployment or mass production
• Preferred: Familiarity with building codes and regulations
• Preferred: Experience creating construction drawings, specifications and submittal documents
• Preferred: Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam and MS Office Suite
