Staff/Principal Design Systems Lead

Set the vision and build Render’s design system hands-on, including its architecture, components, guidance, and AI-readable rules, while raising the bar for visual design, interaction, accessibility, and product quality. As the function grows, hire and lead the team, drive adoption across product teams, and develop evaluations that help ensure human- and AI-generated work meets the system’s standards.

As the function grows, hire and lead the team, drive adoption across product teams, and develop evaluations that help ensure human- and AI-generated work meets the system’s standards.

Requirements

• Candidates should have a strong record of setting direction and delivering outcomes in design systems or design engineering, exceptional visual and interaction design skills, and experience building systems that improve both quality and speed. They should be technically fluent in front-end architecture and coding, have hands-on experience with AI and a clear perspective on AI-ready systems, and demonstrate strong product judgment and developer empathy.
