Senior UX-Designer EES
Ministerie Van Defensie 🇳🇱 Utrecht, Netherlands
Lead UX strategy and design for complex digital products, including user research, wireframes, interaction models, prototypes, and user flows, while ensuring accessibility and consistent design quality. Collaborate across teams and advise stakeholders, guide other designers, and improve UX standards, design systems, and practices.
Responsibilities
- Analyze complex UX problems, user needs, and business processes to formulate design strategies
- Advise stakeholders on UX impact of design and architecture decisions
- Create wireframes, interaction models, prototypes, and user flows within established design frameworks
- Review and ensure consistency of designs from other UX designers against guidelines and patterns
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, and Developers on digital product development
- Identify UX issues and risks across teams and initiate improvements
- Lead user research initiatives, analyze results, and apply insights to design enhancements
- Mentor junior and mid‑level UX designers and contribute to design system evolution
- Stay updated on UX trends and incorporate relevant improvements into the organization
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master degree in UX Design, Interaction Design, HCI, or related field
- Minimum 6 years of UX design experience, with proven senior‑level work
- Strong knowledge of UX design methods, principles, and user‑centered design
- Deep expertise in UX strategy, design systems, and interaction patterns
- Expert level in modern design and prototyping tools, including design tokens and scalable architecture
- Experience conducting user research and translating findings into design solutions
- Knowledge of accessibility (WCAG AA), inclusive and service design
- Experience working in multidisciplinary Agile/Scrum teams
- Preferred experience in complex government or enterprise environments and defense‑related systems
