Head of Design

Own the end-to-end design of Mesh’s consumer app and merchant experiences, including complex payment flows, failure recovery, and support handoffs; serve as the hands-on decision-maker for experience strategy and quality. Lead and grow the design team, evolve design practices for the AI era, and represent design in executive roadmap and customer decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end Mesh experience for both consumer and merchant surfaces, including onboarding, payments, error recovery, and support handoffs
• Define and maintain consistent mental models for different merchant types and user flows such as deposits, swaps, bridges, fiat on‑ramps, and failure states
• Make high‑impact design decisions and act as the tiebreaker on experience questions
• Hands‑on design work across the entire product, from concept sketches to high‑fidelity prototypes
• Build, manage, coach, and grow the design team while hiring as the organization scales
• Set design standards, toolsets, and workflows for the team, incorporating AI‑driven processes
• Represent design at executive meetings, presenting evidence‑backed positions to the CEO, CTO, and SVP of Product
• Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, and data teams to align on roadmap and priorities

Requirements

• 8+ years of product design experience
• 3+ years of experience leading and mentoring designers while staying hands‑on
• Portfolio demonstrating shipped consumer products at scale
• Experience designing complex, high‑stakes systems (payments, finance, etc.)
• Ability to create first‑principles frameworks and mental models
• Proven executive influence and ability to argue design decisions with senior leadership
• Strong proficiency with AI tools in the design workflow
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and storytelling skills
