Staff Product Designer

Establish Vitalize’s AI-first design workflow and lead design direction for complex, high-impact product areas, including data-dense operational tools and AI-powered experiences. Conduct customer research in hospitals, influence product strategy and roadmaps, evolve the design system, and mentor designers while raising the team’s quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Build an AI‑first design workflow, defining best practices and quality standards
• Lead design for complex, cross‑cutting product areas from discovery to launch
• Design data‑dense operational tools for staffing teams, unit managers, and clinicians
• Shape how AI recommendations and actions appear in the product to build trust
• Conduct onsite research in hospitals and translate findings into product strategy
• Influence roadmap by questioning workflows and linking design decisions to outcomes
• Mentor other designers, lead critiques, and establish team rituals and standards

Requirements

• 8+ years of product design experience with complex, workflow‑heavy B2B SaaS products
• Portfolio showing end‑to‑end ownership of high‑impact, ambiguous problems
• Proven AI‑first design workflow and ability to integrate AI into design and product
• Experience designing AI‑powered products with trust and transparency considerations
• Strong product instincts, craft, and ability to shape workflows beyond UI
• Strategic influence across product, engineering, and leadership
• Customer‑ and outcomes‑oriented mindset with experience observing hospital workflows
• Design systems leadership and experience evolving a design system
• Mentorship experience and ability to raise team craft
