Design Manager - Electrical

The Design Manager will lead electrical design management and quality assurance for the Western Downs Digital Park project. They will act as the electrical subject matter expert, coordinating multidisciplinary design interfaces and ensuring compliance with Zerra standards and Australian codes.
Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design management and ensure designs meet project baseline and Zerra standards
- Review and provide QA/QC assurance over electrical design deliverables
- Audit electrical designs for inconsistencies, discrepancies, missing information and interface risks
- Act as electrical subject matter expert in design reviews and handle escalations
- Coordinate electrical interfaces with mechanical, highâvoltage, controls, energy storage, civil, structural and architectural disciplines
- Support technical discussions, knowledge sharing and development of Zerra Design Engineering Guidelines
- Participate in project gating reviews and advise on electrical design maturity and risks
- Provide leadership and guidance to the WDDP Design and Engineering team on electrical matters
- Support selection, briefing and performance review of electrical design consultants
- Enforce Zerra standards and templates for electrical documentation, adapting to Australian codes and gridâconnection requirements
- Engage with external consultants, contractors and suppliers to improve electrical design management
- Identify electrical quality and latentâdefect risks and lead resolution efforts
- Evaluate electrical product, vendor and digital design improvements
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
- Chartered status with Engineers Australia and registration on the National Engineering Register preferred
- At least 10 years of electrical design or designâmanagement experience in hyperscale data centres or similar industrial infrastructure
- Strong working knowledge of Australian electrical codes and standards (AS/NZS, NCC, DNSP, AER, AEMO)
- Demonstrated capability in power distribution, resilience, redundancy, protection, earthing and standby power systems
- Commercial awareness of Australian constructionâmarket dynamics and vendor cost drivers
- Excellent communication and stakeholderâmanagement skills
- Willingness to travel regularly to project sites
