Academic Learning Design Lead - BEng System Design Engineering (UK)

Lead the academic design and development of online engineering modules in Moodle, aligning learning outcomes and content with the university’s Prepare, Engage, Demonstrate model. Collaborate with academic and professional services teams to create interactive lessons and inclusive assessments, manage development milestones, and ensure modules meet academic and pedagogical quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead academic design of assigned modules aligned with learning outcomes and the PED model
• Participate in kick‑off meetings, design workshops, sprints and sign‑off processes
• Create and co‑develop interactive, multimedia‑rich online lessons
• Design authentic, inclusive, feedback‑focused assessment tasks
• Proactively manage progress, meet deadlines and flag risks early
• Work with Academic Reviewers to ensure pedagogical standards are met
• Engage in professional development to stay current with digital pedagogy and emerging technologies

Requirements

• Experience designing or delivering online/blended learning modules
• Proficiency or willingness to learn Moodle, Padlet, Mentimeter, and H5P
• Strong written communication skills
• Understanding of inclusive and accessible design principles (WCAG 2.2)
• Ability to work collaboratively in agile, sprint‑based processes
• Experience with assessment design that supports feedback and student success
