Design Manager

Lead and coordinate the design function across bidding, pre-construction, and construction stages for large-scale social housing retrofit and capital works projects, ensuring designs meet legislation, client requirements, budgets, and programme targets. Manage design teams, consultants, surveys, BIM coordination, design changes, sustainability requirements, and technical reviews while serving as the main contact for design issues.

- Lead and coordinate the design function across bidding, pre-construction, and construction stages for large-scale social housing retrofit and capital works projects, ensuring designs meet legislation, client requirements, budgets, and programme targets. Manage design teams, consultants, surveys, BIM coordination, design changes, sustainability requirements, and technical reviews while serving as the main contact for design issues.
Requirements
- Candidates should have extensive construction design experience, strong leadership skills, and a track record managing complex projects, preferably in social housing, retrofit, and sustainability. They should understand building pathology, CDM responsibilities, design-and-build and two-stage/PCSA contracts, procurement and construction requirements, and technical solutions across structures, substructures, M&E, and finishes; a relevant bachelor's degree and CIOB or RIBA chartership are desirable.
