HV/MV Senior Electrical Design Engineer, AWS HVDE Design Engineering EMEA

Design and manage high and medium voltage substation systems across multiple geographical regions while collaborating with vendors and utility providers. Support the full project lifecycle from site selection through commissioning and system validation to ensure high standards of safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage high‑ and medium‑voltage substation systems across multiple regions
• Develop comprehensive electrical infrastructure designs using advanced engineering software
• Collaborate with regional vendors, manufacturers, and utility providers to specify optimal equipment
• Create detailed construction documents and technical specifications that meet rigorous quality standards
• Support the full project lifecycle from site selection through commissioning and system validation
• Coordinate with cross‑functional teams including software, hardware, network engineers, supply‑chain specialists, and operations managers
• Ensure safety, security, and cost‑effective capacity delivery for AWS customers
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge‑sharing activities

Requirements

• Experience designing or constructing electrical distribution systems from low voltage to high voltage
• Industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission‑critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil and gas
• Ability to read, interpret, and create construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
• Experience with EPMS/SCADA/BMS control system software or hardware
• Project management experience including RFQ/RFP processes, budgeting, and coordinating multiple consultant teams
• Professional Engineering or Architectural License (preferred)
• Knowledge of regional building codes and regulations (preferred)
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment (preferred)
• Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance (preferred)
• Proficiency with web‑based calculation and data‑processing tools (preferred)
