Technical Design Manager

Own fit, construction, and technical execution across apparel categories, maintaining standards and ensuring products meet design, quality, safety, and manufacturability requirements. Lead technical problem-solving with internal teams and suppliers, use customer and product-performance data to address systemic issues, and manage and develop technical design support.

Responsibilities

• Own fit consistency across categories, seasons and factories; develop and maintain core blocks, measurement standards, grade rules and construction standards
• Conduct annual fit and block calibration and benchmark against industry competitors
• Use customer feedback, returns data and product performance to identify and resolve systemic fit, construction or quality issues
• Create and manage tech packs, specifications, measurements, grading, construction details, fit comments and sample approvals from development through production
• Troubleshoot fit, pattern, grading, construction and production issues directly with factories and vendors
• Partner with Design, Product Development, Production, Sourcing, Merchandising and Customer Experience teams as the technical authority on fit and construction
• Manage and develop Assistant‑level Technical Design support, delegating executional work while focusing on business‑critical priorities
• Anticipate risks, resolve issues before they impact timelines, quality, cost or the customer, and continuously improve technical processes

Requirements

• 10+ years of apparel technical design experience with people management
• Associate degree or certification in Patternmaking, Apparel Manufacturing, Fashion Design or related field
• Expertise in fit, patternmaking, grading, specifications and garment construction
• Experience developing and maintaining blocks, fit standards and grading standards across multiple categories
• Strong understanding of fabric behavior and its impact on fit and product performance
• Experience with baby and children’s apparel safety requirements
• Proven ability to partner with overseas factories and resolve technical issues
• Strong analytical, root‑cause problem‑solving and data‑driven decision‑making skills
• Excellent communication, organization and prioritization abilities
