Design Manager

Manage the design process for multiple school facilities projects, from programming and early design through construction documents, ensuring compliance with educational standards, budgets, schedules, and environmental and legal requirements. Select and direct design firms, review design changes, coordinate Division of the State Architect approvals, and report project status with findings and recommendations.

• Manage the design process for multiple school facilities projects, from programming and early design through construction documents, ensuring compliance with educational standards, budgets, schedules, and environmental and legal requirements. Select and direct design firms, review design changes, coordinate Division of the State Architect approvals, and report project status with findings and recommendations.

Requirements

• Requires a bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering, at least eight years of professional experience managing facilities design or capital projects, and at least four years involving educational facilities or similar public agencies. Strong writing and the judgment to direct multiple firms and projects are required; California architect registration or professional engineer licensure, DSA experience, campus modernization experience, and design-phase estimating and scheduling are preferred.
