Mechanical Design Engineer, Data Center Design Engineering

The engineer will design resilient mechanical systems for data centers, managing projects from concept through construction and commissioning. They will also define equipment specifications, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure compliance with building codes and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Work with internal teams to understand user requirements and translate them into data‑center mechanical designs
• Create construction document sets that meet quality and budget requirements
• Specify mechanical equipment with regional vendors and manufacturers
• Define site utility requirements with local utilities
• Ensure compliance with city/county building codes and regulations
• Review and approve equipment submittals
• Provide technical support during construction phases and define project scopes
• Validate installation, operation, and performance of mechanical systems with commissioning teams
• Manage multiple concurrent projects across geographic regions
• Travel to sites for reviews, audits, and startup support as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• NETA or ASHRAE certification or equivalent commissioning education
• Knowledge of critical data‑center mechanical and electrical equipment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Experience with design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission‑critical facilities
