Senior Design Engineer, Design Systems

You will build and scale the design system from the ground up, serving as the connective tissue between design and engineering. This involves creating reusable components, establishing architecture, and developing AI tooling to streamline product development across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Establish the architecture and foundations of the design system across Figma and code, from primitives to complex user flows
• Build reusable, production‑ready components with full states, interactions, motion, and accessibility
• Maintain synchronization between design files, code, and Storybook, addressing gaps promptly
• Define system standards, set quality benchmarks, and ensure consistency across teams
• Create AI tooling and skills that enable rapid prototyping and system‑driven development
• Write comprehensive documentation, usage guidelines, and component rules for both humans and AI
• Partner with designers, product managers, and engineers to address complex workflows and edge cases
• Champion accessibility best practices across mobile and web implementations
• Mentor and guide team members on design‑engineering best practices

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building production frontend design systems for web and mobile
• Strong frontend engineering skills with modern web technologies and component‑based architecture
• Deep expertise in design‑token pipelines, Storybook, visual regression, and Figma workflows or plugins
• Demonstrated ability to create accessible, reusable, production‑ready components
• Experience aligning design libraries with production code and maintaining system consistency
• Proven track record of using AI tools to accelerate prototyping and component development
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration with designers, PMs, and engineers
• Ability to define system standards, document usage guidance, and enforce quality across teams
• Strong product judgment and UI/UX craft
• Leadership mindset with bias for building, iterating, and delivering impact
