Design Engineer, RSR Design Engineering

The Design Engineer will lead large-scale engineering projects, including the design of warehouse layouts and the integration of automation and robotics solutions. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize facility performance, manage project costs, and ensure successful implementation from concept through go-live.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for large‑scale engineering projects, retrofits, and building designs
• Design efficient warehouse and delivery‑center layouts, optimizing space and workflow
• Integrate automation solutions into facility designs to ensure scalability and efficiency
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop simulation models for evaluating design options
• Conduct spatial integration and trade studies, managing schedule, scope, and cost from concept through completion
• Create and refine delivery‑station layouts using CAD software
• Analyze high‑level demand projections to inform design decisions and future scalability
• Work with operations teams to translate workflow needs into practical designs
• Participate in design review meetings and coordinate with architects and civil engineers on detailed drawings
• Troubleshoot design challenges and conduct capacity analyses to meet operational goals

Requirements

• 5+ years experience as an industrial, operations, manufacturing, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment
• 3+ years experience in maintenance or engineering, including refrigeration industry experience
• Bachelor’s degree (or Associate’s degree with 2+ years Amazon RME experience)
• Experience with material handling equipment (MHE) or automation environments
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams through design, launch, and go‑live phases
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at an intermediate level
• Understanding of reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM) for commercial refrigeration
• Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and performance metrics such as OEE
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
