Onsite Full-time Senior

The Head of Design, Development, & Construction will manage the end-to-end process of launching new pharmacy facilities, including site selection, design, and regulatory compliance. This role oversees project budgets, contractor selection, and construction build-outs to ensure all sites meet operational and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead market analysis and site selection for new pharmacy locations nationally
  • Conduct feasibility and regulatory assessments for prospective sites
  • Develop entitlement strategies and coordinate with legal and operations teams
  • Act as liaison with landlords, brokers and internal stakeholders
  • Navigate land use, zoning, and environmental compliance for each project
  • Represent Gilbert Pharmaceuticals at public hearings and community outreach
  • Coordinate regulatory submissions and inspections with Boards of Pharmacy, DEA, FDA and local authorities
  • Create and maintain facility compliance playbooks and design standards
  • Lead architectural and space‑planning design for compounding suites, clean rooms and dispensing areas
  • Manage design team selection (architects, MEP engineers, consultants)
  • Develop HVAC, cleanroom, airflow and environmental monitoring specifications
  • Oversee budget development, value engineering and cost control
  • Select and manage general contractors, permit processes and construction schedules
  • Provide field oversight, quality walkthroughs and QA close‑out activities
  • Ensure operational readiness and documentation for go‑live
  • Support evaluation of pharmacy partners' facility compliance

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Mechanical/Civil/Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy or related field (advanced degree or licensure preferred)
  • 5+ years designing, building or commissioning pharmacy or regulated laboratory/cleanroom facilities
  • Knowledge of USP, state Board of Pharmacy, and FDA cGMP requirements
  • Project management experience from concept through commissioning
  • Ability to interact with regulatory agencies for approvals and inspections
  • Proficiency with architectural drawings, construction documents and facility engineering specs
  • Experience with sterile manufacturing or 503B outsourcing facilities (preferred)
  • Travel ability for site oversight
  • Preferred: Licensed Architect (AIA), Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Pharmaceutical Industry Professional (CPIP)
  • Strong vendor management and cross‑functional relationship skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
