The role involves developing design concepts, prototypes, and visual assets to enhance user experience across digital platforms. You will collaborate with developers and stakeholders to maintain design systems and conduct user research to inform design decisions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine design concepts, prototypes and visualizations to improve user experience and engagement
- Collaborate with Frontend Developers to create and maintain components within the design system
- Conduct independent user tests, research and desk studies and translate insights into design decisions
- Coordinate with stakeholders and external partners to align design strategy with brand standards and project goals
- Participate actively in product planning, reviews, retrospectives and refinement sessions
- Create graphics and visual assets to support content and user interfaces
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices in digital design and UX
Requirements
- Academic or professional background in Design, Media Design, Software Development or related field with a focus on digital design
- Proven experience developing digital products, preferably in journalism or digital media
- Proficiency with Figma, Jira, Slack, Adobe Creative Suite and Asana
- Experience conducting user research, interviews, surveys and usability testing
- Familiarity with AI‑powered tools such as Claude, Figma AI, Large Language Models and agentic systems
- Excellent written and spoken German (minimum C1 level)
