Senior Design Manager

Lead and develop a design team while ensuring the technical quality and constructability of residential drawing sets from schematic design to construction documents. Establish standardized systems and SOPs to optimize the design workflow and coordinate with external consultants.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of four senior designers, a junior designer, and consultants
- Serve as the senior technical voice, guiding drawingâset development and constructability reviews
- Own the completeness and buildability of design sets from schematic design to construction documents
- Standardize design processes, SOPs and workflow systems across projects
- Manage consultant accountability to keep permitting schedules on track
- Own the CAD workflow and drive adoption of Revit within the team
- Track design team budget and time, ensuring efficient production
- Provide design insight during sales to ensure accurate scoping
Requirements
- 10â12 years of residential design or architecture experience
- At least 3 years leading a design team
- Bachelorâs degree in Architecture, Design, Construction Management or related field
- California architect license preferred
- Proven track record of building design processes and systems
- Experience delivering full plan sets from SD to CD
- Strong constructability instincts
- Fluency with California Building Code, TitleâŻ24, ADA, and local permitting processes
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, Buildertrend; Revit a strong plus
