DC Design Manager for Region (AMER), DCDE - AMER

Lead project teams to deliver high-quality, globally consistent data center designs within budget and schedule constraints. Manage design consultants, coordinate cross-disciplinary decisions, and drive standardization and automation across global infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary project teams to deliver consistent, high‑quality data‑center designs within budget and schedule
• Influence internal stakeholders, operations teams, and external consultants on program‑wide design changes
• Manage escalations and make multi‑disciplinary design decisions
• Oversee design change management, permitting, and implementation lifecycles
• Apply project‑management skills including critical‑path scheduling, risk, quality, and cost management
• Manage design consultant procurement, contracts, deliverables, and payments
• Communicate metrics on schedule, cost, and quality to AWS leadership and external partners
• Drive process simplification, automation, and standardization to reduce rework
• Create and share global best‑practice documentation
• Mentor team members on design standards and quality
• Travel up to 25% for site assessments, design meetings, and construction reviews

Requirements

• 5+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission‑critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil & gas
• 5+ years of engineering, installation, or start‑up/commissioning experience with electrical and mechanical systems
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment used in data‑center topologies
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data‑center equipment
• Experience with design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission‑critical facilities
• Familiarity with building codes and regional regulations (preferred)
• Ability to carry design concepts from exploration through deployment or mass production (preferred)
• Experience reading and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents (preferred)
