Senior Graphic Designer, Health Sciences Development

Serve as a strategic visual leader translating complex healthcare research and stories into high-impact print and digital communications for fundraising. The role involves mentoring staff, managing external vendors, and executing sophisticated visual strategies to support transformational donor gifts.
Responsibilities
- Translate complex stories and concepts into distinctive print and digital communications that support fundraising goals
- Create high‑quality visual designs for donor gifts, campaigns, and promotional materials
- Develop and maintain design standards aligned with the UCLA Health brand
- Manage production schedules, budgets, and vendor relationships
- Mentor junior staff and guide external vendors
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure visual consistency across all channels
- Apply UX/UI best practices to digital communications and email marketing
- Ensure all designs meet accessibility and compliance standards
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of experience in marketing/communications, preferably in an agency, corporate, or non‑profit setting
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Strong design, composition, and production skills using Mac systems and Microsoft software
- Working knowledge of HTML/CSS
- Experience creating production schedules, estimating project costs, and managing timelines
- Excellent time and project management abilities
- Strong visual aesthetic judgment and sophisticated visual strategy execution
- Understanding of multimedia design and file organization for print, digital, and web platforms
- Knowledge of UX/UI principles and best practices
- Familiarity with printing and production processes and vendor management
- Excellent written communication in English
- Ability to work independently and handle confidential projects
- Mentoring and team collaboration skills
- Preferred: fundraising design experience and knowledge of Blackbaud CRM
