Head of Design

The Head of Design will build and lead the design function, overseeing product design, brand expression, and the design system for the private markets platform. They are responsible for hiring and coaching the team while remaining hands-on in shaping complex user flows and prototypes.

Responsibilities

• Own product design for advisor and GP experiences, delivering end‑to‑end private‑market solutions
• Define and enforce a clear definition of done, usability gates and friction metrics
• Conduct research, frame problems, prototype and handoff designs
• Hire, define career levels, coach and conduct performance reviews for the design team
• Shape product strategy alongside product and engineering leadership
• Champion design within executive conversations and influence business outcomes
• Maintain and evolve the design system for consistency and speed
• Lead brand expression across marketing, campaigns and client‑facing collateral
• Establish validation habits using AI‑assisted research and prototyping tools
• Define design rituals, tooling and processes that add value across the organization

Requirements

• 10+ years of product design experience, including leadership and people management
• Proven track record building or growing a design function
• Experience leading distributed design teams
• Hands‑on design skills; must continue to produce designs
• Strong systems thinking and design‑system expertise
• Direct experience designing for private‑market or institutional finance products
• Fluent in Figma and Magic Patterns; comfortable using AI‑assisted tools such as Claude
• Ability to conduct research, synthesize findings, and drive evidence‑led design decisions
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills for executive and client audiences
• Based in the Bay Area or willingness to relocate to Palo Alto
