The Project Controls & Design Manager drives the design and delivery of projects across GEMS School Management, ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines. Key duties include project scheduling, cost tracking, risk mitigation, and managing external service providers and consultants.
Responsibilities
- Set project controls guidelines and implement tools for earned value management, cashflow, cost, revenue, forecasting and scheduling
- Provide guidance to project controls and operations teams, ensuring accurate project metrics and adherence to corporate guidelines
- Collaborate with finance to develop methodologies for accurate project-level financial forecasting
- Direct and manage work by project teams and service providers to meet KPI’s for safety, quality, scope, cost, and time
- Manage service provider organizations, consultants, contractors and vendors
- Prepare and present technical documents, monthly reports and presentations
- Attend handover and kick‑off meetings and contribute project controls input during setup
- Oversee scheduling functions, baseline schedule contributions, and schedule updates throughout the project lifecycle
- Conduct detailed review and analysis of project performance, produce status reports and forecasting, and recommend corrective actions
- Oversee scope and change management for internal departments
- Identify commercial risks, develop mitigation measures and contribute to risk mitigation plans
- Communicate with estimators, project managers, operations teams, senior leadership, external clients, vendors and subcontractors
Requirements
- BA in Architecture or related discipline
- 10+ years experience as a design manager for developers or design consultants
- Experience managing multiple building design projects with contract values over AED 100 million
- Proven ability in planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, estimating and cost control
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
