The Product Design Manager will lead the product design team through the complete development process from concept to production ramp-up. This includes overseeing mechanical design, system integration, and collaborating with various engineering teams to resolve design and production issues.
Responsibilities
- Lead product design teams through the full development cycle from concept development and prototyping to NPI builds and production ramp
- Oversea mechanical design, system integration, part architecture, material selection, and design specifications
- Evaluate design options, technical trade-offs, cost impact, manufacturing constraints, and product performance risks
- Drive DFM, DFA, tolerance analysis, structural validation, reliability validation, and manufacturing readiness
- Support prototype builds, EVT, DVT, PVT, validation activities, and production ramp-up
- Collaborate with electrical, thermal, test, quality, manufacturing engineering, and supplier teams to resolve design and production issues
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- 10+ years of product design or mechanical design experience
- Experience in consumer electronics or high-tech hardware product development
- Strong CAD capability with the ability to review and guide 3D and 2D design deliverables
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including CNC, injection molding, and surface finishing
- Knowledge of materials including metals, plastics, ceramics, and composites
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
- Fluent English communication skills for working with international customers, overseas factories, and suppliers
