Assistant Design Manager

The role involves assisting with the delivery of projects throughout the entire development lifecycle, including planning, design, and construction. You will also coordinate with external consultants and support project marketing initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the delivery of projects throughout the entire development lifecycle, including planning, concept design, approvals, construction, occupation certificate requirements, and project handover
- Undertake site acquisition due diligence and assist with feasibility assessments and financial modelling
- Prepare block planning studies and development investigations using AutoCAD
- Coordinate external consultants including architects, engineers, planners, and other project stakeholders
- Assist with Development Applications, Construction Certificates, Council approvals, PCA approvals, and authority requirements
- Review design documentation and ensure coordination between consultants and construction teams
- Identify design risks, inconsistencies, and coordination issues, and facilitate practical solutions
- Support value engineering initiatives and design optimisation opportunities
- Assist with procurement activities, quantity take-offs, and project cost reviews
- Work closely with the construction team to resolve buildability challenges and RFIs
- Review shop drawings and construction documentation
- Support project marketing initiatives and ensure design intent is maintained throughout delivery
- Maintain accurate project records and ensure effective management of project information
- Contribute to the implementation of best-practice design processes and standards across multiple projects
Requirements
- A degree in Property, Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
- 2–5 years of experience within property development, architecture, design management, project management, or construction
- Strong understanding of the development and design process across residential projects
- Experience interpreting architectural and consultant documentation
- Exposure to planning approvals, DA and CC processes, and construction delivery
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- A proactive attitude with the ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously
- A genuine passion for high-end residential development and design
