The Senior Product Designer will serve as the strategic architect of the design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across the product experience. They will also contribute to product feature design when necessary, applying systems thinking to complex challenges.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve system architecture: component taxonomy, token structure, and governance models
- Partner with engineering to align system decisions with technical implementation and long-term scalability
- Create frameworks for when to add, modify, or deprecate patterns
- Design production-ready components with comprehensive variant coverage and thoughtful API design
- Establish seamless connections between design and code through Code Connect mappings, design token pipelines, and automated synchronization
- Pioneer AI workflows that accelerate system work: component generation, token organization, accessibility auditing, drift detection, and documentation
- Develop judgment about when AI amplifies work versus when human oversight is essential
- Create comprehensive documentation that serves designers, engineers, and AI systems
- Drive adoption through education and continuous improvement
Requirements
- 5-7+ years in product design, with 2+ years focused on design systems, component libraries, or platform design
- Proven track record building or scaling design systems across multiple product teams
- Deep proficiency in Figma and its systems capabilities
- Technical fluency: HTML/CSS, design tokens, Git, component-based architecture (React, Web Components)
- Ability to read code
- Experience with design system governance: contribution models, breaking changes, versioning, adoption patterns
- Familiarity with AI in design workflows and comfort exploring emerging paradigms
