Design Engineering Supervisor

Supervise a team of design engineers in the creation of air-cooled heat exchangers according to ASME codes and customer specifications. Manage productivity, provide technical training, and implement process improvements to enhance engineering efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities

• Check designs and drawings of other Mechanical Design Engineers
• Train Design Engineers on ASME code, API 661, ASCE, AISC, Quality Work Instructions, design software, design processes and templates, and Kelvion manufacturing standards
• Provide on-going on-the-job training to facilitate continuous performance improvement
• Monitor and facilitate Design Engineer performance to maximize productivity, efficiency, and issue design drawings/calculations on time
• Ensure scheduled completion dates are met
• Implement process improvements to improve engineering efficiency, quality, and lower product cost
• Keep Engineering Director informed of systemic changes, job schedules and issues, and other department issues
• Design air-cooled heat exchangers as required to meet customer demands
• Communicate with sales, customer, shop and detail drafters

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university and a minimum of three (3) years of experience designing Air Cooled Heat Exchangers
• Mechanical or Structural PE is preferred
• General knowledge of welded steel fabrication practices
• Good drafting skills
• Computer skills must include Windows, AutoCAD, Excel and Word
• Working knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineering Code (Section VIII, Division 1), American Petroleum Institute 661 and American Institute of Steel Construction
