Design major components and functional systems to improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. This includes creating preliminary layouts, investigating design factors, and reviewing completed drawings for accuracy and conformity to standards.
Responsibilities
- Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes
- Investigates pertinent design factors, such as ease of manufacture and availability of materials
- Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development
- Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures
Requirements
- Design Apprentice certification or Associate's degree in Design with 6 years of experience
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline plus 4 years of experience
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline and 2 years of experience
