Onsite $67,700 - $90,300 Full-time Entry Level

Validate mixed-signal chips for hard disk drives by characterizing next-gen Preamp technology using high-frequency RF test gear. Automate testing workflows through TCL scripts and partner with designers to debug signal integrity issues on prototype boards.

Responsibilities

  • Characterize next-gen Preamp chips using high-frequency RF test gear (Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers)
  • Automate testing workflows – write/modify TCL scripts to speed up validation cycles
  • Debug signal integrity issues on prototype boards; run failure analysis and publish findings
  • Partner with chip designers and vendors – test theories, verify fixes, optimize HDD performance
  • Build test plans from scratch – design experiments, collect data, document what works (and what doesn't)

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a MS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Right to work in the US without requiring WD to commence or sponsor an immigration case in order to employ you at any point in the future
  • Solid analog fundamentals – you understand RF design, transmission lines, and signal integrity
  • Hands-on lab skills – comfortable with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and high-speed measurement setups
  • Coding for automation – can write test scripts (TCL preferred, but adaptable)
  • Verilog/SystemVerilog, VHDL, or FPGA experience
  • PCB layout tools (KiCAD, Altium, etc.)
  • HDD architecture knowledge
  • ModelSim simulation experience

Benefits

  • Paid vacation time
  • Paid sick leave
  • Medical/dental/vision insurance
  • Life, accident and disability insurance
  • Tax-advantaged flexible spending and health savings accounts
  • Employee assistance program
  • Other voluntary benefit programs such as supplemental life and AD&D, legal plan, pet insurance, critical illness, accident and hospital indemnity
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Transit
  • The Applause Program
