Lead UX Designer - 13 Month Term

Scotiabank is seeking a Lead UX Designer to join their design team on a contract basis in Toronto. The role involves driving design quality and outcomes across complex problem spaces while mentoring other designers and strengthening the design practice. The ideal candidate will have multiple years of experience in product, UX, or digital design and experience leading design work at a product or journey level.
Responsibilities
- Craft and design excellence: deliver and uphold high-quality UX and design solutions across complex products, features, or journeys
- Demonstrate deep expertise in one or more design disciplines, with strong working knowledge across adjacent crafts
- Contribute to and influence patterns, standards, and design systems, negotiating and aligning with peers across teams
- Collaborate to ensure alignment and cohesion across journeys
- Own the solution to complex, ambiguous design problems at the product or journey level
Requirements
- Multiple years of experience in product, UX, or digital design
- Experience leading design work at a product or journey level
- Proven ability to lead design work at a product or journey level, beyond individual features
- Experience mentoring or coaching designers
- Comfort operating in ambiguous environments, asking the right questions to create clarity
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence without authority
