Design and analyze code-compliant structural roof and floor trusses while ensuring safety and cost-effectiveness. Manage projects from concept to completion and collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams to meet technical standards.
Responsibilities
- Design & Analysis: Create accurate, code-compliant structural truss designs
- Perform calculations to ensure structural integrity, constructability and safety
- Optimize designs for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability
- Interpret architectural drawings and specifications
- Select appropriate materials and components
- Participate in ongoing training (e.g., MiTek)
- Project Management: Manage multiple design projects from concept to completion
- Ensure timelines and budgets are met
- Provide technical support during construction and implementation
- Quality Assurance: Conduct detailed design reviews to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Stay current with building codes, regulations, and industry standards
- Collaboration & Client Interaction: Work closely with sales, operations, and production teams
- Consult with clients to understand needs and provide recommendations for solutions
- Participate in client meetings and presentations
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and reports
- Maintain accurate project documentation
- Provide updates to leadership on project progress
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Explore new technologies, tools, and materials
- Contribute to improving design standards and best practices
- Health & Safety: Follow all safety regulations and company policies
- Participate in required training and promote a safe work environment
Requirements
- Degree in Construction Engineering Technology (CET), Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, building codes, and regulations
- Experience with industry-related design software and tools (AutoCAD experience is an asset)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong time management and ability to handle multiple projects
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and grow
