Senior Graphic Designer (SCADA)

Onsite $100,000 - $140,000 Full-time Senior

Lead the design of complex, data-rich SCADA/HMI operator interfaces while defining and maintaining core design standards and style libraries. Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure design feasibility, conduct usability research, and mentor junior designers on best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design for major SCADA projects, including layout strategy, navigation models, and interaction patterns
  • Define and maintain the core CSS style library, including design tokens, themes, and reusable utilities
  • Conduct structured design feasibility reviews to ensure concepts align with SCADA platform capabilities and performance constraints
  • Own front-end design verification for critical screens and document defects
  • Mentor junior designers on SCADA UX patterns, design best practices, and basic implementation concepts
  • Collaborate with SCADA and engineering leads to plan work, identify risks, and align design milestones with delivery schedules
  • Drive consistency across projects through shared component libraries, standards, and design handoff practices
  • Establish and evolve standards for screen density, information hierarchy, accessibility, and operator workflows
  • Govern design token architecture, including primitive, semantic, and component-level tokens across themes
  • Manage design library publishing workflows, including versioning, release notes, and migration guidance
  • Apply ISA-101 and ASM Consortium high-performance HMI principles across all designs
  • Lead usability testing and operator research initiatives, including protocol design, execution, and findings synthesis

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, UX/UI Design, HCI, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Advanced Training: Advanced training or demonstrated expertise in design systems, usability, or front-end implementation preferred
  • Experience: 5–8 years of experience designing complex, data-rich interfaces
  • At least 1 year of SCADA, HMI, or industrial application design experience
  • Proven ownership of end-to-end UI/UX design, from discovery through implementation
  • Strong experience in information architecture, workflow design, and design systems
  • Proficiency in CSS architecture and scalable theming strategies
  • Familiarity with alarms, trends, and navigation patterns in SCADA systems
  • Experience mentoring designers and providing structured feedback
  • Proficiency with Figma (preferred), Sketch, Adobe XD, Illustrator, or similar tools
