Sonar Mental Health - Senior Product Designer ( Part-time)

You will lead end-to-end product design for student-facing chat experiences, administrator dashboards, and internal care workflows. This includes running discovery research, rapid prototyping, and partnering with engineering to ship high-quality, scalable design systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead 0→1 product design for major initiatives, from discovery through launch and iteration
- Rapidly prototype and test concepts to validate direction before engineering investment
- Design intuitive experiences across complex clinical, operational, and AI-assisted systems
- Run discovery research, including interviews and usability testing, to inform product direction
- Partner with Engineering to ship high-quality, scalable design systems
- Own and evolve our design system to support scale, accessibility, and speed
- Partner closely with PM and Engineering to shape roadmap priorities and influence product strategy
- Raise the bar for craft, systems thinking, and user empathy across the company
Requirements
- 5+ years of product design experience with a portfolio showcasing strong UX, UI, and interaction design
- Proven experience designing complex, multi-sided platforms
- Strong systems thinker, comfortable designing workflows, dashboards, and AI-assisted tools
- Strong UX research instincts and ability to run lightweight research independently
- Deep understanding of accessibility and inclusive design best practices
- Ability to navigate high ambiguity and limited structure, excitement to build the design function from the ground up
- Clear communicator: can present and articulate design decisions effectively
