
The UX Designer II will partner closely with product, research, and engineering in cross-functional teams to deliver user-centered solutions to complex challenges, identifying problems, developing concepts, and designing, prototyping, and testing solutions. Key duties include owning the end-to-end design work within the team, ensuring consistency via the design system, and collaborating on roadmap definition and backlog prioritization.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product managers and engineers to define the roadmap and backlog
- Support researchers in conducting user research and usability tests to understand user needs and inform design decisions
- Ensure product designs meet user needs, support business goals, are technically feasible, and are consistent with the design system
- Collaborate with designers within ScienceDirect and on other products in the portfolio to create aligned experiences
- Help improve design team practices, support other designers as needed, and engage with the design community at Elsevier
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a UX/UI or product designer
- A portfolio that displays a range of work to date, including User Experience (UX), User Interface design (UI), and ideally User Research and/or UX analytics
- Attention to detail and proficiency in producing UX flows, design concepts, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes
- Ability to collaborate with designers, product managers, and developers, and communicate persuasively to influence decisions
- Experience delivering products embedded in a squad in an Agile environment
