Onsite Full-time Senior

The role involves designing major components or functional system portions to improve products and facilitate manufacturing, requiring the development of preliminary layouts and investigation of design factors like manufacturability and material availability. Responsibilities also include leading a team, managing workloads, reporting on schedule/cost/quality performance, and evaluating design changes, specifically for the Virginia Class model conversion process (Catia to NX).

Responsibilities

  • Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations
  • Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal
  • Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost
  • Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development
  • Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures

Requirements

  • Design Apprentice certification or Associate's degree in Design with 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline plus 4 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline and 2 years of applicable experience
  • Knowledge of Siemens NX/Teamcenter, submarine design and NNS construction processes
