UX/UI Web Designer - Shopify eCommerce (Contractor)

The designer will translate creative briefs into functional design concepts, build and maintain comprehensive Figma design systems, and create high-fidelity prototypes to visualize concepts. They must also prepare clean, developer-ready files and clearly articulate design decisions based on user and business goals.
Responsibilities
- Translate creative briefs into functional design concepts with feedback and direction from ecomm strategists and senior designers
- Build, expand, and maintain comprehensive Figma design systems and component libraries
- Create high-fidelity prototypes and motion explorations to bring concepts to life
- Prepare clean, developer-ready files and documentation to support seamless handoff
- Accurately scope tasks and complete assignments on-time and within budget
- Clearly articulate design decisions to internal teams and clients, grounding your rationale in user and business goals
Requirements
- 2+ years of UX/UI experience designing ecommerce sites for Shopify, preferably in-house at DTC brands and/or agencies
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
- Experience contributing to or maintaining design systems within Figma
- Strong communication skills and ability to present work confidently and explain the strategic "why" behind design decisions
- Comfortable working in a remote, asynchronous environment with structured check-ins and mentorship to support your workflow
- A growth mindset: curious, proactive, and passionate about evolving digital trends
- A portfolio showcasing your work (we are looking to see projects that align with what we do)
