
Roadway Design Engineering Specialist

Responsibilities include providing professional design services for transportation improvement projects for PDOT and local agencies, which involves developing design plans for alignments, sections, and roadway details. The specialist will also coordinate design development, provide technical direction, and assist with preparing technical proposals and final bid packages.
Responsibilities
- Providing professional design services for transportation improvement projects for the PDOT and local County/City agencies
- Developing design plans including horizontal and vertical alignments, cross sections, typical sections, superelevation data and miscellaneous roadway detail sheets
- Designing to adhere to ADA Standards
- Coordinating design development and providing technical direction and mentorship to the design team
- Coordinating with the design team to achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget
- Assisting with the preparation of technical and cost proposals
- Maintaining relationships with client technical staff and project managers
- Attending project meetings with clients, sub-consultants, and the project team
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Successful completion of the FE exam to earn EIT
- 0+ years of experience
- PDOT and municipal client experience is a plus
- Proficient with MicroStation and Inroads/OpenRoads modeling design software
- OpenRoads Designer experience is a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with AASHTO and local agency design standards is required
- Strong oral and written communication skills
