Project Design Engineering Manager (Remote)

The Project Design Engineering Manager directs the timely and accurate completion of technical design packages for customer projects, ensuring they meet contract specifications. This role involves managing and mentoring a team of project engineers, providing technical guidance, and ensuring all engineering output stays on schedule and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Deliverable Management: Direct the completion of technical design packages for customer projects, ensuring they are accurate and meet contract specifications
- Team Supervision: Manage and mentor a team of project engineers, providing technical guidance and conducting regular performance reviews
- Process Adherence: Implement established engineering processes, design review checkpoints, and documentation standards across the team
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with project managers, drafting teams, and field staff to resolve design issues and clarify technical requirements
- Schedule & Resource Alignment: Monitor team workload to ensure engineering milestones support permitting, procurement, and construction deadlines
- Technical Review: Lead project-level design reviews and perform quality assurance checks on all team deliverables
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and recommend improvements to design tools and workflows to increase team efficiency
- Technical Support: Serve as a resource for the team regarding design decisions, technical problem-solving, and code compliance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or a related Engineering field
- 5–7+ years of experience in engineering design, with 2+ years in a lead or supervisory capacity
- Demonstrated experience in delivering engineered design packages for construction or industrial projects
- Strong ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary tasks and manage team priorities
- Solid understanding of engineering documentation, industry codes, and QA/QC procedures
- Strong communication and technical problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with CAD platforms and project tracking software
