Product Designer
Bash.com Remote (🇿🇦 Cape Town, City of Cape Town, South Africa)
The Product Designer will own end-to-end UI design execution for product features, translating UX briefs and research into high-fidelity, scalable interfaces ready for engineering handoff. This role also requires active contribution to the Elementa-Ø design system by proposing new components and ensuring visual consistency.
Responsibilities
- Design execution and ownership: Take ownership of end-to-end UI design for product features within your area - from concept through to engineering handoff
- Translate UX briefs and research insights into high-fidelity, scalable interfaces that account for all key states, edge cases, and responsive contexts
- Produce structured, annotated dev-ready deliverables that minimise ambiguity for engineering
- Build and prototype interaction patterns that communicate motion, transitions, and micro-interactions
- Systems contribution: Contribute actively to Elementa-Ø - propose new components, flag inconsistencies, and support the evolution of the system with well-considered, reusable solutions
- Apply and extend UI kits and component libraries with strong systems thinking, ensuring your work feeds back into the design system rather than fragmenting it
- Uphold and advocate for visual consistency and design token usage across your product area
Requirements
- 2–5 years of professional experience in product or UI design, with a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UI ownership and strong visual craft
- High proficiency in Figma - including components, variables, auto-layout, prototyping, and design system workflows
- Experience contributing to or working within a design system
- Understanding of responsive and adaptive design across platforms (iOS, Android, web)
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and how to apply them practically
- Ability to communicate design decisions clearly and make a case for your choices
- Ability to work well in cross-functional teams and navigate ambiguity with some independence
- A strong eye for detail and a high quality bar
