The Mechanical Product Designer is responsible for developing and refining mechanical designs for modular aluminum cabinet systems and related accessories, requiring strong SolidWorks experience focused on precision sheet metal fabrication suitability. This role involves working across the full product lifecycle, including concept development, documentation, and close collaboration with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are efficient and manufacturable.

Responsibilities

  • Design modular aluminum cabinet systems and related storage products
  • Develop detailed mechanical models and assemblies using SolidWorks
  • Produce engineering drawings and documentation necessary for fabrication and manufacturing
  • Design components with consideration for manufacturing processes including precision sheet metal fabrication
  • Create and maintain detailed 3D models and assemblies in SolidWorks
  • Produce accurate manufacturing drawings and technical documentation
  • Ensure models reflect dimensional accuracy and manufacturing feasibility
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure designs are practical for manufacturing
  • Collaborate with shop floor personnel to refine designs based on fabrication and assembly feedback
  • Address design adjustments required for production efficiency
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing product designs
  • Develop solutions to manufacturing challenges and design constraints
  • Evaluate product performance and implement engineering improvements
  • Manage design projects from concept to implementation
  • Track design revisions and maintain design documentation
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure product requirements are met
  • Support coordination with sales, manufacturing, and leadership teams
  • Assist with engineering solutions that address customer needs or product customization

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of mechanical design experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of SolidWorks experience
  • Experience with solid modeling and mechanical design
  • Ability to develop detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision
  • Ability to collaborate with manufacturing teams and production staff
  • Experience working with precision sheet metal manufacturing processes
  • Experience working in manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with cabinet design, modular product design, or storage systems
  • Experience collaborating with fabrication teams on manufacturable design solutions
