The role involves designing product concepts, creating 3D renderings for approval, developing detailed prototype and mass production designs, and managing small to moderate projects from concept through launch to meet technical, deadline, and cost targets. Key duties also include maintaining the current product line-up and collaborating with cross-functional teams for effective production launches.
Responsibilities
- Define concepts or ideas, considering competitive products, benchmarking, trends & lesson learnt
- Create detailed 3D models suitable for prototype and mass production
- Design for cost, aesthetic appearance, robustness, reliability and quality
- Validate the design concept: Using recognized design tools, including design reviews, functional analysis
- Create and maintain detailed 2D drawings and specifications
Requirements
- University Degree or College Diploma in Engineering Technology, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year product design or development experience
- Experience with 3D CAD software
- Demonstrated experience in simulation or CAM
- Knowledge of material and manufacturing processes
