Graphic Designer

The Graphic Designer will ensure Hume City Council's visual communications are clear, consistent, and engaging across print and digital channels, managing brand integrity and developing visual assets for various projects. Key duties include brand management, creating high-quality designs, overseeing print production, and capturing/managing organizational photography.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring all in-house designed materials meet Council's corporate identity, strategic objectives, and Hume Values
• Developing and maintaining brand guidelines, templates, and procedures
• Providing expert advice to staff on applying Council's identity correctly
• Monitoring marketing and communications materials for brand compliance
• Managing relationships with external graphic designers and maintaining a preferred supplier list
• Creating high-quality designs for print and digital platforms
• Carrying out design production tasks including scanning, layout, desktop publishing, and electronic pre-press
• Overseeing the production and timely distribution of Council's print materials
• Ensuring all projects undergo thorough proofing, checking, and quality assurance
• Planning, arranging, and capturing photographs for Council's external communications

Requirements

• Strong graphic design skills with a portfolio showcasing both print and digital work
• High attention to detail and strong organisation
• Understanding of brand governance and ability to help others use visual identity well
• Clear communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to balance multiple projects and deliver quality work within deadlines
