MGR DESIGN ENGINEERING 1

This leadership role involves designing major components or functional system portions to improve products and facilitate manufacturing, focusing on developing piping product model arrangements and construction drawings for Ford Class aircraft carriers. The candidate must manage and direct the work of others while demonstrating strong skills in leadership, project management, quality control, and staff development.

Responsibilities

• Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations
• Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal
• Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost

Requirements

• Design Apprentice certification or Associate's degree in Design with 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline plus 4 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience
• Master's degree in a relevant discipline and 2 years of applicable experience
