Roadway Design Engineering Specialist

The specialist will support roadway design tasks for NJDOT transportation projects across Concept Development, Preliminary Engineering, and Final Design phases, assisting with the development of alignments, profiles, and plan production using Bentleyâs OpenRoads Designer. Key duties include applying relevant design standards and coordinating with various engineering disciplines under senior guidance.
Responsibilities
- Support roadway design tasks on NJDOT transportation projects
- Assist with development of roadway alignments, profiles, and typical sections
- Utilize Bentley's OpenRoads Designer to assist in developing roadway models and contract plan deliverables
- Apply NJDOT, AASHTO, and FHWA roadway design standards
- Prepare plan sheets, exhibits, quantities, and supporting technical documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field
- 1-3 years of experience in roadway or transportation engineering
- Familiarity with Vissim, Synchro Studio, and Bentley's OpenRoads Designer
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team environment
