Illustrator / Graphic Designer, Kids

This role involves illustrating and designing graphics for diverse content, ranging from video to print, while also creating storyboards and mood boards to visualize ideas. The individual will leverage AI image software to generate art assets and contribute visual storytelling concepts to every project.

Responsibilities

• Illustrate and design graphics for a wide variety of content, from video to print
• Provide a variety of illustration styles with the ability to match styles as needed
• Design page layouts and graphics for print materials
• Create storyboards and mood boards to visualize ideas
• Leverage AI image software to create art assets
• Contribute visual storytelling ideas to each project
• Handle many projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Read and understand creative direction
• Prepare and deliver organized files, specs, and assets for internal and external teams
• Conform to standardized workflow and best practices

Requirements

• 2–5+ years of professional illustration and graphic design experience, preferably with children’s content
• A strong illustration and graphic design portfolio
• Versatility in illustration styles
• Examples of page layout and creative typography
• Strong design interplay between text and artwork
• Experience with visual storytelling for K-12 age range
• Fluency with Adobe CC suite of products, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
• Fluency with AI image generation, including Gemini, Midjourney, ChatGPT, Adobe Firefly
• Knowledge of different visual styles, their strengths and drawbacks
• An understanding of color theory
• An understanding of cinematic storytelling devices, and how these devices are used to communicate a narrative or emotional point
• Ability to work under pressure without compromising performance or accuracy
• Work effectively with others in a collaborative team environment and/or independently with minimal supervision, while able to follow direction
• A flexible, “roll with the punches” attitude when game-plans change
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to comprehend and uphold brand style guidelines
• Effective time management, ability to multitask, and meet deadlines
• High attention to detail and accuracy
