Corporate Product Designer

This role involves assisting in the design and development of new proprietary products across all lines, including coordinating merchant ideas for Silver Star Christmas Cards and independently developing new product concepts. Essential functions include staying aware of current trends, maintaining communication with buyers, promoting continuous improvement of existing products, and collaborating with various departments to maximize new design success.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of new proprietary products
- Design assistance of Silver Star Christmas Cards
- Coordinate merchant ideas and independently develop new product
- Develop new design applications for creation of new personalized products
- Stay aware of current trends, price structure, and product development of competition
- Maintain close communication with buyers and product development team
- Promote and help lead continuous improvement of existing products
- Independently develop and continuously bring new design concepts forward
- Research and develop new sources for design and art
- Work with freelance designers/artists as needed
- Collaborate with personalization, merchandising, and creative departments
- Design new product packaging and sales collateral materials
Requirements
- Proficient skills in Adobe CS5.5 or higher (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop)
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Ability to create technical drawings
- Knowledge of CAD software is a plus
- Skilled in photo/art manipulation and illustration
- Knowledge of Prepress and print production skills
- Ability to design for different aesthetics and customers
- Knowledge of consumer and market trends
- Creative thinker with strong art and design ability
