The Web Designer develops and designs the overall navigation flow, page layouts, and graphic elements, ensuring all solutions work across various browsers and screen settings while adhering to development constraints. This role also develops and implements strategic digital media initiatives and maintains graphical and style standards for websites and electronic publications.
Responsibilities
- Develops and designs the overall navigation flow, layout of specific pages, and creation of individual graphic elements
- Ensures that all design elements, templates, and finished solutions work within a variety of browser types and screen settings along with the constraints set by development and design
- Develops and implements strategic digital media initiatives, priorities, objectives, and best practices in collaboration with leadership and other functional work units
- Implements graphical and style standards for web sites
- Provides design maintenance of websites and other electronic publications and applications
- Serves as a subject matter expert and unit liaison to other departments to design graphics and layouts
Requirements
- Associate’s degree from a 2-year college or Bachelor’s degree university in web or graphic design, digital design, strategic marketing or communication, or related communications or business field
- Two to five years of experience working as a web designer, UI/UX designer, front-end developer, multimedia designer, digital content producer, or equivalent role
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards and practices for consistent implementation
- Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
- Strong attention to detail, problem solving, team, project and time management skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
- Creative thinking skills with an ability to bring forward new ideas
