Senior Product Designer

The Senior Product Designer will lead the end-to-end product design process, from discovery through high-fidelity design, focusing on creating intuitive, powerful geospatial web applications that transform satellite data into mission-critical intelligence. Key duties include defining interaction patterns, architecting the design system for the monitoring platform, and collaborating closely with product and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Product Design Ownership: Lead the end-to-end process from discovery and prototyping to high-fidelity design
• GIS Interface Design: Create intuitive, powerful geospatial interfaces that translate complex data into actionable insights
• User Research: Gather feedback and conduct user interviews in close collaboration with product partners
• UI Architecture: Define and architect the interaction patterns and design system for Planet's monitoring platform
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with product and engineering to ensure top-tier design quality
• Culture: Help build and elevate Planet's design culture

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience designing complex digital products
• Bachelor's degree in design or an equivalent field
• End-to-end experience: taking projects from early ideation to live software, and iterating based on feedback
• Proficiency in Figma and enterprise design systems
• A solid portfolio demonstrating complex professional projects, your process, and the resulting impact
• Experience conducting lightweight user research and usability testing, synthesizing findings into actionable improvements
• A solid core skillset: UX/UI, interaction design, rapid prototyping, accessibility, and visual design principles
• Ability to work quickly in undefined and ambiguous environments
