UX Designer, Design System

The role involves architecting and stewarding the Waymo Design System by defining foundational patterns that connect digital interfaces with physical rider behaviors, while establishing best-in-class design standards, potentially leveraging AI. This person will also forge cross-functional partnerships to institutionalize the Design System, reduce technical debt, and advocate for design excellence.
Responsibilities
- Architect and steward the Waymo Design System
- Establish and evolve best-in-class design standards
- Forge deep cross-functional partnerships with Engineering and Product
- Advocate for design excellence at every level
- Operationalize User Experience Research insights into scalable system components
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in UX and/or Product Design
- Proven track record of architecting and maintaining large-scale Design Systems
- Expert proficiency in Figma
- Deep technical expertise in Variables, Auto-layout, Component Properties, and Variants
- Passion for the 'internal UX' of a design system
