
The Senior Product Designer will lead the design for a major area within the Teams experience, driving the creation of AI-assisted, collaborative, and multimodal experiences from exploration through launch and iteration. This role involves translating deep user insights into clear interaction models and elegant UI patterns while collaborating closely with cross-functional partners to ensure high-quality execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead design for a major area of the Teams experience, from exploration through launch and iteration
- Create AI-assisted, collaborative, and multimodal experiences that enhance how users communicate and co-create
- Translate deep user insights into clear interaction models, elegant UI patterns, and adaptive design systems
- Build rapid prototypes to validate ideas and influence direction across disciplines
- Collaborate closely with PMs, engineers, researchers, and content designers to ensure high-quality execution and alignment
- Define and evolve design frameworks, guidelines, and systems that ensure a consistent and accessible product experience
- Present and advocate for design decisions with confidence, tying them to customer value and product strategy
- Mentor and collaborate with other designers, contributing to the design culture across Teams and Microsoft Design
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design
- Equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems)
- 5+ years of professional experience in product or interaction design
- A portfolio demonstrating impactful design work across shipped or in-market products
- Strength in interaction and visual design, with a deep understanding of layout, hierarchy, motion, and systems thinking
- Proven ability to design for complex workflows and simplify them through clarity and structure
- Hands-on proficiency in Figma and other modern design and prototyping tools
- Experience working with or designing for AI-driven experiences is a strong plus
- Ability to communicate design ideas clearly in fluent English, across both technical and non-technical audiences
- Solid collaboration skills and comfort working in cross-functional, distributed teams
- A user-centered mindset balanced with business and technical considerations
