Student Graphic Designer

The student will support the lead Graphic Designer in creating effective communication materials, focusing on scientific illustration, data visualization for manuscripts, and designing high-impact visual assets for presentations and events. Responsibilities also include producing creative assets like journal cover art and managing layout for newsletters and promotional handouts.
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and execute high-resolution technical figuresāincluding biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and instrumental schematicsāfor peer-reviewed manuscripts and grant proposals
- Design high-impact visual assets, scientific posters for international conferences, and professional slide decks for keynote presentations and symposia
- Produce specialized artistic content, such as journal cover art, and develop various graphics for the laboratory website and digital outreach channels
- Manage the production of laboratory newsletters, promotional handouts, and scheduling materials for institute-wide events using Adobe InDesign
- Provide expert feedback to researchers to improve the clarity and impact of their visual communications
Requirements
- Working toward an associate or bachelorās degree
- High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, with a focus on creating precise, scalable vector assets
- High proficiency in Adobe InDesign to produce professional-grade document layouts and structured typography
- Sophisticated design aesthetic with a focus on clean, modern visuals and complex data visualization
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible visual content, with a proven capacity to incorporate stakeholder feedback
